Basic Computer Skills

If you are new to computers or have used a computer for awhile but still feel like a novice, this class is for you. 
Learn the basics of how to use the Windows operating system. These two hands-on sessions will cover 
navigating in Windows and file management.

Computer Backup

If something happens to your computer or hard drive tonight, how many files or pictures would you lose?  Do you have a backup copy of those important items? It is now easy to automatically back up your files to secure online storage; one company even provides two gigabytes of storage for free. In this hands-on class you will learn how to set up and use an online backup service so you will be prepared in case of a computer disaster. One session, two-hour class.

Create Your Own Website with Google Sites

Would you like to have a website for personal or business use? You can, without buying software or hiring a web developer. There is no cost to create your site and have it hosted on the Internet using what you will learn in this class. If you already own a domain name you may use it, or you may purchase a unique domain name for a small annual fee. In two hands-on sessions, you will learn how to register for this service, start, and maintain your own website. Electronic Blueprint Take-Off

Would you like to avoid paying for expensive prints and reduce the time it takes to prepare bids? You can do both by learning to use your computer to work with electronic print files. In this 2 ½ hour hands-on class you will learn how to download and install free software that you can use to look at prints and do take-offs. You will be able to quickly measure places where there are no dimensions and do area and linear take offs and counts. 
Prerequisite: Beginning Computers or equal knowledge level.

Internet & Email

So you know how to browse the internet and check your email, but do you know how to bookmark sites, use the history list, download files, and adjust your privacy settings? With your email have you mastered sending or opening file attachments and organizing your email in folders? If not, this hands-on class will help you move to the next level of proficiency while surfing the internet or using email.

Microsoft Excel-Level 1

Excel allows you to quickly total numbers and do calculations. It eliminates running tapes in an adding machine. 
The information can be prepared in a nice looking document with your company logo. In this basic hands-on class 
you will learn how to: create basic spreadsheets, format cells, edit spreadsheet information, move and copy 
existing information, change column and row widths and heights, apply colors and borders to cells, and create 
formulas that will do your calculations for you.

Microsoft PowerPoint-Basic

Learn the basic skills you need to get started by creating your own presentation with text, graphics, pictures, charts, and slide animation effects.

Microsoft Publisher

Microsoft Publisher can be used to create documents including newsletters, brochures, flyers, postcards, and much more. But it functions much differently than a word processing program or spreadsheet.

Microsoft Word-Level 1

If you are a new or inexperienced user of Microsoft Word, help is available. In these hands-on sessions you can learn the basics of using your word processor. Learn how to create, edit, format, save, and print documents. Dramatically increase your productivity as you discover how to use many of the basic features and functions of Microsoft Word for Windows. Since this is a basic class, the skills taught would also be helpful to those using other types of word processing software.

This class will help you push your word processing skills to the next level.

Optimizing Computer Speed (Keep Your Computer Purring)

There are many threats that can greatly harm your computer and online security. This class will help you understand a common threat called scareware and how to avoid it. We will also cover how to install and use free software to protect your computer from viruses and malware (Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware).
